Welcome to the Brighton Festival Chorus Website

Brighton Festival Chorus was founded in 1968 to perform at the now world-renowned Brighton Festival by its first Music Director, Laszlo Heltay.

Concerts

Brighton Festival Chorus is now one of the most sought-after and versatile choirs in the country, boasting a huge and diverse repertoire and an impressive history, performing with all the major British orchestras, a number of notable European orchestras and the most celebrated conductors.

The 150-voice choir performs concerts throughout the year in all the major London venues, at concert halls across the UK, the popular Leeds Castle Open-air Concerts, on tours abroad and at home in the newly renovated Dome Concert Hall. In May each year the Chorus is an important feature of the Brighton Festival, England’s largest arts festival.

Abroad, the Chorus has forged links with a number of European orchestras, which has earned Brighton Festival Chorus European recognition. In 1992, the Chorus was awarded the European Flag by the East Sussex County Council for its contribution to the forming of cultural links within Europe.
