Join the Chorus

We are always on the look out for new members, and although our standards are high we are a relaxed and friendly choir, enjoying not only the singing but a bit of socialising too.

As you will see, the Brighton Festival Chorus has an impressive portfolio; singing with world acclaimed professional musicians and conductors in many notable venues like the Royal Albert Hall, the Barbican, the Royal Festival Hall, Birmingham Symphony Hall, Glyndebourne, Paris, Metz, Lille and even accompanied by fireworks and cannons at the Leeds Castle Open-air Concerts which have audiences of over 36,000. In the last few years we have visited Belgium, Germany and France (on many occasions).

To be part of such a large chorus of over 150 voices is an amazing experience and, under the dedication and enthusiasm of James Morgan our Music Director, Brighton Festival Chorus has gone from strength to strength to become one of the most sought-after choirs in the country.

New members are welcome to join the Chorus at any time throughout the year after a simple audition. We rehearse every Tuesday evening from 7.15pm to 9.45pm in the BSMS Lecture Theatre (Med School) at the University of Sussex, Falmer, near Brighton.

Every year in October the Chorus holds an Open Rehearsal when anyone interested in joining the choir is invited to come along and join in. A wine reception after the rehearsal provides an opportunity to chat to Chorus Members.

There is an annual subscription, applicable to all Members; this covers all music hire, coach travel to and from rehearsal and concert venues outside Brighton and all expenses on foreign tours. There is a special rate available to full-time students and UB40 holders.
