Brighton Festival Chorus is a large and hardworking choir, with an impressive portfolio to its name. We have performed in a wide variety of venues, both at home and abroad, encompassing many major concert halls such as the Royal Albert Hall, The Barbican and Glyndebourne, the splendour of open air events at Leeds Castle and the city centre of Lille, and the captivating atmospherics of smaller venues such as Maîtrise de la Cathédrale de Metz, and the unique St Bartholomews, Brighton. We are privileged to work with many of the world’s notable conductors, soloists and orchestras, and some of our performances have even been ‘accompanied’ by fireworks, cannons, actors and fly-overs!

To be part of this large chorus (over 150 voices) is an amazing experience, and under the dedication and enthusiasm of James Morgan, our Music Director, the Chorus has gone from strength to strength to become one of the most sought-after choirs in the country. Our standards are high, but we still find time for some relaxed and friendly interaction as we work our way through each year’s schedule

We have a short, straightforward audition process; to find out more about this please contact our audition secretary as below. Alternatively, we frequently hold an Open Rehearsal in the Autumn, when we open our doors to those who would like to come along, join in for an evening, and find out more about membership.

Rehearsals are held every Tuesday evening from 7.15pm to 9.45pm, usually at the BSMS Lecture Theatre (Med School) at University of Sussex, Falmer, near Brighton. Occasionally, additional rehearsals may be scheduled if our workload demands

There is an annual subscription, applicable to all members; this covers all music hire, coach travel to and from concert venues outside Brighton and expenses on foreign tours. Special rates are available to full-time students and UB40 holders.
